ORIGIN
Zacari is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper from Bakersfield, California. He’s mastered multiple instruments, including the guitar and saxophone. Zacari entered the spotlight with a feature on Kendrick Lamar‘s single “Love” from the album DAMN (2017). His solo work includes the EP, Run Wild Run Free (2019), released by Top Dawg Entertainment. Standout singles include “Don’t Drip”, “Lone Wolf”, “Midas Touch” and “Young & Invincible” with Lil Yachty. Over the years he’s collaborated with Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, and Larry June among others. He’s performed at big venues, such as NYC’s Madison Square Garden.

Zacari Pacaldo was born into a musical family on April 8, 1994, in Bakersfield, California. Overflowing with talent, his parents enrolled him in a performing arts school at age 8. He took up the guitar and later experimented with the drums, keyboards, and saxophone. Zacari developed his singing voice while performing in his church’s youth worship team. His skills on the saxophone and guitar made him the go-to guy for his high school shows. Post high school, Zacari worked at an Alaskan national park and offered saxophone sessions to save up money. He furthered his musical career at LA’s Musician’s Institute.

CAREER
Growing up, Zacari was drawn to the works of John Mayer, Justin Nozuka, Marvin Gaye, and B.B. King. He was also inspired by his dad, who played blues, soul, and house music. In April 2015, Zacari dropped his debut single “Foggy Williams”, produced by J-Louis and Nghtmre. The track was released commercially in July of that year. He followed up with the independent releases “I Should Be Dreaming” featuring Josh Jaramillo, and “Heaven Sent” with J-Louis. The year 2015 also welcomed “Cuffin’ Season pt.1” and “2 O’Clock in the Moanin.”

In May 2016, Zacari appeared on Callum Connor’s single “Windows” opposite Asal Hazel. He was featured on the track “Wat’s Wrong” from Isaiah Rashad’s debut album, The Sun’s Tirade (2016). He appeared on “An Idea” from IAMNOBODI’s EP, Imani (2016). His next collab was on the track “RAW (backwards)” by Ab-Soul. Zacari appeared on “Still Mackin'” from Larry June’s EP, Larry Two (2017), and on “Sativa” from Chris Webby’s Webster’s Laboratory II (2017).

In October 2017, Zacari got his big break with a feature on Kendrick Lamar’s “Love” from the album DAMN. The single has been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA and the official video has been viewed 90+ million times. It charted at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2018, Zachari performed the single “Redemption Interlude” for the soundtrack to Black Panther. The film was a monster hit, raking in more than $1.3 billion at the box office.

On January 25, 2019, Zacari signed to Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). His TDE debut “Don’t Trip” was released that same day. The supporting music video has been viewed 1.9+ million times. Zacari’s debut EP, Run Wild Run Free, arrived in March 2019. The tracklisting includes “You Can Do Anything”, “Midas Touch” and “Lone Wolf.” Lil Yachty made a guest appearance on track #5 “Young & Invincible.” In June 2019, Zacari appeared on Kembe X’s single “Raised a Fool” alongside Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. He’s reportedly working on a new project with ScHoolboy Q.
