Slim 400 was an American rapper and music producer from Compton, California. He was best known for the single “Bruisin” featuring YG and Sad Boy Loko. His discography included Foe Reala (2018), Foe Block 2 (2017), All Blassik (2016), and Keepin’ It 400 (2014). He was a good friend, labelmate, and frequent collaborator of YG. Slim 400 was born Vincent Cohran on June 21, 1988, in Frankfurt, Germany. He grew up in Compton, California. The West Coast rapper attended Morningside High School.
CAREER
Slim 400 began pursuing music at age 12. He eventually caught the attention of YG and the two became friends. He joined the Pushaz Ink label in 2008. The label was formed by YG, DJ Mustard, and Ty Dolla Sign. Slim released two volumes of his ‘High off Trees’ mixtape series in 2010. The second installment featured guest appearances from Youngsta and Young Hootie. He also gained favorable responses from the track “Call It A Go.” Slim’s next tape, Keepin’ It 400, dropped in July 2014. It was supported by the songs “In My Hood”, “Bompton City G’s” and “Real N!gga Sh!t.” That same year he appeared alongside YG in the short film Blame It on the Streets (2014). The film was directed by Alex Nazari and Darryl Lucky Rodgers.
Slim kicked off 2015 with his 8-tracked EP, Foe Block. The project featured guest appearances from Mitchy Slick, Yung LB, and a few others. Next, he appeared on two songs from YG’s sophomore album, Still Brazy (2016). Slim’s second EP, All Blassik, was released in August 2016. It was spearheaded by the single “Bruisin” featuring YG and Sad Boy Loko. The official video attracted more than 15 million views on YouTube. It was directed by Yellow Nguyen and executive produced by Taylor Made.
The second installment of Slim’s Foe Block series was released in March 2017. His other projects include BompTTon (2021), Shake Back (2020), Ice Wata Army (2021), and For Reala (2018). The latter featured guest appearances from Dave East, The Game, Snoop Dogg and J Stalin. Since his debut, the West Coast rapper has worked with labels Empire Distribution, Get Dough, and All Money In Records. He’s toured and performed with acts like Big Sean, Yo Gotti and J Cole.

Slim 400 died on December 8, 2021, at age 33. He was fatally shot and killed while exiting his car in Inglewood, California. The rapper’s killer, Michael Terry, was sentenced to 32 years in state prison. Slim 400 survived being shot 10 times back in June 2019. That particular shooting occurred roughly 3 months after fellow rapper Nipsey Hussle was gunned down in Crenshaw, Los Angeles.
