Marlo was born Rudolph Johnson on May 1, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in the Bowen Home projects which are located on the Westside of the city. During an interview, he describes his upbringing as being “typical”: young and wild, getting money early, and living dangerously. Marlo also points out that, from the age of 16, he was a hardball in the streets. Regarding academics, he attempted high school, however, he dropped out as a freshman in 9th grade. He would later earn a GED and learn construction, though he did not apply the trade.

CAREER
In 2017, Marlo alongside close friend, Lil Baby, stepped up to the plate and started rapping seriously. The two have forged a solid friendship over the past five years and have maintained the link transitioning into music. That year, Marlo released two official projects, “2 The Hard Way” and “The Wire,” respectively. The first project, a collaborative mixtape with Lil Baby, unveiled on October 9, 2017, consisted of 9 tracks and featured multiple artists including Young Thug, Big36oz, PnB Rock, TK Kravitz, and Kollision. Its most popular outputs were the titled track “2 The Hard Way” and “Time After Time.”

“The Wire,” a 14-track effort, arrived one month later with multiple features and club bangers. With hot songs like “Da Spot” and “Chop Stick,” the project received a warm ovation, with new features including Loso Loaded, SkullE, Mak Sauce, Lil Baby, and Maino. WorldStarHipHop also played a role in the rapper’s career, showcasing several of his music videos such as “A-Town” and “2 The Hard Way,” with Lil baby.

Over the next three years, Marlo released 3 official projects: “9th Ward God” (2018) “The real 1” (2018), and “1st & 3rd” (2020). He also made appearances on Quality Control’s “Control The Streets” compilations. He has collaborated with a staggering amount of artists and has dropped numerous tracks that caught fire. Some of his highlights to date include a feature on Gucci Mane & Lil Baby’s “The Load” (2018), “Enough Echo” (2018), and “1st & 3rd” (2020). His music bears the Quality Control insignia; an indicator that the rapper has been signed.

“1st & 3rd,” his latest project, landed on February 14, 2020. It featured 14 tracks with guest appearances from Lil Baby, Future, Young Dolph, Young Thug, Gunna, Blac Youngsta, and others. The mixtape was anchored by the title track and “Lit AF” ft. Young Dolph. Marlo recently dropped the music video for each track, and both visuals have been featured on WorldStarHipHop.

On Saturday, July 11, 2020, in the late hours of the night, Atlanta authorities responded to what they initially thought was a mere car accident on the Interstate-285.
