ORIGIN
After a serious life-altering experience, Joey found himself in a dark place with no sense of direction. When he decided to pursue music seriously, he jumped right into it, and from the darkness “Joey Trill” emerged. Trill dropped his first projects ‘Smoke ‘n Drive’ and ‘Trillology’ in 2017. His sound caught the attention of outlets like Elevator, Mieux, Say Cheese Digital, and CitrusRap. The official video for his “Oh Well” single was featured on the Fck Them YouTube channel. It has 200K+ views and counting. The Florida native has had features with Suigeneris, Lil Raven from GBC and more.

Moving forward, Trill received recognition from his home city of Tampa on one of their top radio stations (WLLD 94.1). He won the Mieux award for #1 breakthrough artist of the year and the best single of the year award twice. Trill is inspired by everything from heavy metal to underground rap to mainstream music. Amid the darkness and heartbreak, he continues to shine by employing hard work & perseverance.

CAREER
Trill never cared to be big or famous. He instead hopes to leave a bigger message in the music world than “hey, yea I made it.” It’s deeper than that for him, way deeper. Trill has always been the type that was oftentimes misunderstood. His life was very simple, having 2 sisters and no brothers. Growing up, he never liked school and the whole process just didn’t make sense to him. Nevertheless, he tried to excel in school but it just wasn’t for him.

The stage name “Joey Trill” was heavily inspired by Asap Rocky and Joey Badass. He listens to Badass quite often. The term “Trill” was also popular around the time of his starting out. When asked, Trill stated that the “Joey Trill” moniker was born from pain and anger. He was tired of being told that he couldn’t do it or “you won’t be nothing.”

Following the release of his 2 albums, Trill shifted his focus towards releasing only singles. He believes that it’s more powerful and more targeted. Every single that he drops is accompanied by a video. Speaking of visuals, Trill likes to add the extra wow factor to his music videos. He likes doing more than the next. Fans can expect a continuous stream of new singles as the year progresses.

PERSONAL
Joey Trill hasn’t been in many relationships, maybe 2 serious ones to date. Despite putting up barriers, the “Oh Well” rapper can be very sensitive. He believes that heartbreak and pain help define who he is today. Trill comes from the dark but he’s quick to tell you that he’s not a prop and his dark image isn’t for fun or attention. His look shows his pain and scars. He doesn’t have many beliefs and was taught to believe in himself. Trill believes that there’s no high above or higher below for him. He’s his own devil and his own God. He’s also talked about his recent struggles with anxiety.

Trill has a good amount of tattoos, horror mostly. His tats include Jason Vorhees, the Bride of Chucky, skulls, and possessed meaning tattoos. Since he was a child, Trill has always been fascinated by the 80s and 90s horror movies. He’s always been the weird one, but he’s ok with that.
