Darius Wilson (born July 29th, 1997), professionally known as Darius the Barbarian, is an American rapper, songwriter, and fashion model. Originating from St. Charles Missouri, Darius later moved to Miami, Florida. He started out rapping alongside his friends while a student at Homestead Senior High School. It wasn’t until his freshman year of college that he began pursuing a career in modeling. Darius first gained attention with his debut singles “Shae” and “Bonafide.” Both tracks were released in 2019 to positive reviews.
CAREER
In 2019, after moving to New York City at 19, Darius released his first professional music single “Shae.” It was produced by Brooklyn native, Jab. His follow-up single “Bonafide” was released in July 2019. Darius’s career led him to be featured in a number of international editorials. He’s worked with prestigious designers in New York City such as Olivia Blanc and Willy Chavarria to name a few.
In the depth of July 2020 (amidst the Covid-19 pandemic), Darius released his first 4-track EP entitled ‘Escapades’ in which he receives his prime recognition in creativity with his play on androgyny. The tracklist includes “Interrogation”, “Nintendo” and “Edgar Allen Hoe.”
PERSONAL
Darius is a staple in the LGBTQ+ community for the activism of equality and the awareness of Cystic Fibrosis (A cardiopulmonary disease that affects the lungs and digestive system). Darius lost his 22-year-old brother to the disease.
