ORIGIN
Chris Blue is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and worship leader. He rose to prominence as the winner of season 12 of NBC’s The Voice. His music genre includes gospel, soul, R&B, and hip hop. Blue was born on June 29, 1989, in Glendale, Arizona. His parents are Ernest Blue Jr. and Janice Blue-Williams. He has six older siblings. The family lived in Florida before relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee.

CAREER
Blue developed an interest in singing at the early age of 3. He basically grew up watching his older siblings sing and perform. Collectively they form the band, the Blue Brothers. They’ve performed on programs like ‘Bobby Jones Gospel’ on BET. Blue competed and won the 2015 Voice-Off Knoxville competition. He serves as a worship leader at the Cokesbury United Methodist Church and previously at Tennessee Temple University. He’s also performed at MLB games and at the Knoxville Thundercats arena.

In 2017, Blue auditioned for a chance to compete on season 12 of NBC’s The Voice. He sang The Miracles’ 1965 single “The Tracks of My Tears” during the blind audition. His performance landed him a spot on Team Alicia, led by pop singer Alicia Keys. Blue performed Miguel‘s “Adorn” during the battle rounds followed by Stevie Wonder‘s “Superstition” during the knockout rounds. Other songs performed includes Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman”, Bruno Mars‘ “24k Magic” and Janet Jackson‘s “Rhythm Nation”. The studio version of 4 of his performance reached the top 10 on iTunes.

Blue sang his original song “Money on You” during the Live Finals. The track was released as a digital download by Republic Records on May 22, 2017. Chris Blue was named winner of season 12 of The Voice on May 23, 2017. It also marks Alicia Keys’ first win as a coach. The second place went to Lauren Duski from Gaylord, Michigan, and the third place to Aliyah Moulden from La Habra, California.
