Bill Wyman is an English musician and songwriter best know for being the bass player for the Rolling Stones. He was born William George Perks, Jr. on October 24, 1936 in Lewisham, London. Wyman grew up in Sydenham, South London and attended Beckenham and Penge County Grammar School. He worked briefly for a bookmaker and later served in the British Armed Forces.

CAREER
Wyman’s early interest in music led him to the piano at the age of 10. He ended up switching to the bass guitar in 1961 while playing with the band, the Cliftons. Wyman’s early musical influences include artists like Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. He auditioned and became a member of ‘The Rolling Stones’ in 1962. The other band members at the time were Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones. The band released their self titled debut album on April 16, 1964. Other notable albums include Some Girls (1978), Tattoo You (1981), and Sticky Fingers (1971). As a solo artist, Wyman has released five albums starting with ‘Monkey Grip’ in 1974. He left the Rolling Stones in 1993 and started his own band, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, a few years later.
