Dropping bars from the Bay State, Token is a young American rapper out of Salem, Massachusetts. He rose to prominence with popular songs like “Happiness,” “Exception,” “Doozy,” and “Code Red.” His official YouTube channel, created in 2012, has garnered over 57 million views. Real name, Ben Goldberg, he was born on September 24, 1998, in Salem, Massachusetts. Growing up, he dealt with depression and anxiety. He oftentimes had violent outbursts at school and home. Slow to read, he used writing as a way of expressing himself. Token was then diagnosed with a type of learning disorder.

His track “No Sucka Mcs Contest” went viral on YouTube and generated a tremendous social media response. Since its release, it has amassed over 4.5 million views. The following April, Token capitalized on the opportunity to appear on the radio show, “Sway in the Morning.” The corresponding video, which featured a 6-minute long freestyle skit, became very popular upon release.

In September 2016, Token released a 17-track mixtape titled “Eraser Shavings.” The project featured standout tracks “Happiness,” “Exception,” and “Necessary Evil.” It successfully charted on the iTunes hip-hop chart, racked up millions of views, and got him noticed. Token would make connection with Mark Wahlberg who helped him landed a few TV roles. That year, he also toured throughout Europe and the United States.

Over the next few years, Token continued putting out hits. In 2017, he dropped hot singles “Doozy” and “Patty Cake.” Considering their online credentials, the songs were well received. In addition to hundreds of thousands of plays, both have garnered over 11 million YouTube views collectively. 2018 would see the release of “Code Red” (May), “Flamingo” (August), and “Treehouse” (November). Each has garnered 4.5, 2.9, and 1 million views respectively. Throughout his short career, he has received cosign from celebrities the likes of T-Pain, Mark Wahlberg, Fred Dust, Clinton Sparks, and RA The Rugged Man.
