Doug Banks was an American syndicated radio host and television personality. He was best known for hosting The Doug Banks Radio Show. He was born Calvin Douglas Banks, Jr. on June 9, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Banks grew up in Michigan. He started out broadcasting at his high school radio station in Detroit. His performance landed him a weekend spot on the local radio station, WDRQ-FM. Banks was later offered a longterm position at KDAY-FM in Los Angeles, California. He appeared on sevaral California radio stations including KFI-AM, KLAV-AM and KDIA-AM.

Banks moved to Chicago in 1982. He worked at the urban contemporary stations, WVAZ-FM and later WGCI-FM. He hosted The Doug Banks Morning Show alongside DeDe McGuire for 16 years until 1997. Banks signed a deal with ABC in 1995 to host a syndicated show from Dallas. He also served as a contributing reporter to ABC7’s 190 North. The Doug Banks Radio Show began national syndication in January 2008 from WVAZ-FM. The show was moved to American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) in July 2010. It airs Monday through Friday from 2 to 6pm.

Doug Banks died on April 11, 2016 at the age of 57. His reported cause of death was complications from diabetes and kidney failure. He’s survived by wife, Wendy, and his four children, which includes college students Kelli and Kennede.
