Ricky Harris was an American comedian, actor, producer and writer. His acting credits include ‘Dope’, ‘Bones’ and the sitcom ‘Everybody Hates Chris’. He was also good friends with rapper Snoop Dogg. Harris was born on January 26, 1962 in River Falls, Wisconsin. He grew up in Long Beach, Florida, where he attended Long Beach High School.
Harris made his feature film debut in Poetic Justice (1993) starring Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur. He followed up with small roles in Heat (1995) with Al Pacino, Tales from the Hood (1995) with Corbin Bernsen and Hard Rain (1998) with Morgan Freeman. He also served as a writer and performer on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. His latest film role was that of “Tannehill James” in the comedy crime-drama, Dope (2015). The film stars Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori and Kiersey Clemons.
Harris held a recurring role as “Malvo” on Chris Rock‘s sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris (2006-08). His television credits include Danger Theatre, Moesha, The Tracy Morgan Show and CSI. Harris did several skits for Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound. His most popular hip-hop characters were DJ EZ Dicc, TaaDow, and Saul-T-Nutz. He’s also done voice work for the video game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Ricky Harris died on December 26, 2016 at the age of 54. His reported cause of death was heart attack. Harris is survived by his mom, his ex-wife ‘Dee Barnes’, and his two children.
