Martin Shkreli is an American business executive, entrepreneur and investor. He’s best known for hiking drug prices during his tenure as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals. Shkreli started out as an associate at Cramer Berkowitz at age 17. He spent four years with the company and helped them predict stocks. He worked briefly with Intrepid Capital Management before starting his own hedge fund, Elea Capital Management, in 2006. He co-founded MSMB Capital Management in 2009 and Retrophin LLC in 2011. He resigned from Retrophin in 2014 and was sued by the company in 2015 for $65 million. Shkreli started Turing Pharmaceuticals in February 2015 with the goal of obtaining and repricing out-of-patent medicines. He infamously hiked the price of ‘Daraprim’ from $13.50 to $750 per pill overnight.
