Her comedy albums include For Your Consideration (2008) and Calm Down Gurrl (2013). Kathleen Mary Griffin was born on November 4, 1960 in Oak Park, Illinois. Her father, John, was an electronic store manager, and her mother, Maggie, a hospital administrator. She has four older siblings, John, Gary, Kenny and Joyce. Griffin attended Oak Park and River Forest High School. She later studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles.
Griffin developed an interest in musical theatre during high school. She appeared in school plays such as ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’. Her very first television appearance was as an extra on a Chicago White Sox Commercial. Griffin moved to Los Angles in 1978.
