Henry Cavill is a British film and television actor. He’s best know for the film Man of Steel and the series The Tudors. Cavill was born on May 5, 1983 on Jersey in the Channel Islands. His father ‘Colin’ was a stockbroker and his mother ‘Marianne’ worked in banking. Cavill attended Stowe boarding school in Buckinghamshire. He developed an early interest in acting which led him to various school plays and productions.
Cavill made his film debut in the 2001 drama-thriller, Laguna. A year later he appeared as “Albert Mondego” in The Count of Monte Cristo. The film was directed by Kevin Reynolds and saw modest success at the box office. Other early films include I Capture the Castle (2003), Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005) and Red Riding Hood (2006). In 2007, Cavill landed a lead role as “Charles Brandon” in the Showtime series, The Tudors. He appeared in 38 episodes from 2007-2010. The series picked up a Golden Globe nomination in 2007 followed by an Emmy in 2008.
In 2011 Cavill played the character “Theseus” in Tarsem Singh’s film, Immortals. He starred opposite Bruce Willis a year later in the action film, The Cold Light of Day. Cavill landed the lead role as “Clark Kent” in the 2013 superman movie, Man of Steel. He won a MTV Movie Award for best hero. Other notable mentions include The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
