Cory Monteith was a Canadian actor best know for his role on the hit television series, Glee. He was born to parents Ann and Joe Monteith on May 11, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta. His parents divorced in 1989 when he was seven years old. Monteith and his older brother “Shaun” was raised by their mother in Victoria, British Columbia. There he attended a series of schools before dropping out due to drug and alcohol addiction. He was enrolled in a rehabilitation program with the help of his mom and friends at the age of 19.
Monteith made his television debut doing small roles on series like Stargate Atlantis, Smallville, and Supernatural. His first recurring role was on the sci-fi series, Kyle XY. In 2009, Monteith rose to stardom playing the character “Finn Hudson” on the Fox musical comedy-drama series, Glee. Other film and television credits include Kaya, Monte Carlo, Sisters & Brothers, and All The Wrong Reasons. Monteith’s performance on Glee landed him several award nominations. He was awarded a 16th Screen Actors Guild Award in 2009, a Hollywood Style Award in 2010 and a Teen Choice Award in 2011.
