Bill Nunn was an American actor. He rose to prominence with the role as “Radio Raheem”, in Spike Lee’s 1989 film, Do the Right Thing. Nunn was born William Goldwyn Nunn III on October 20, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents were Frances and William Jr. He had a sister named Lynell. Nunn attended Schenley High School followed by Morehouse College. He graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Nunn’s first credited film role was that of “Grady” in Spike Lee’s 1988 comedy-drama, School Daze. He followed up with the beloved role as “Radio Raheem” in Do the Right Thing (1989). The film was nominated for two Academy Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards. Nunn played the role of a personal bodyguard in New Jack City (1991) with Wesley Snipes and Ice T. Other early films include Regarding Henry (1991) with Harrison Ford, Sister Act (1992) with Whoopi Goldberg, and The Legend of 1900 (1998) with Tim Roth.
Nunn was cast as “Robbie Robertson”, a Daily Bugle editor in the Spider-Man film trilogy directed by Sam Raimi. The film’s first installment was released in 2002, and the latest released in 2007. Nunn starred as “Cash” in the television series, Sirens. The show ran on the USA Network from 2014 to 2015 for a total of 23 episodes. Other television appearances include Traps (1994), Local Heroes (1995), and The Job (2001-02).
